Definition: Future Continuous Tense is used to express on going or continued action will occur at some time in the future.

Future Continuous Tense Examples

5 Types of Future Continuous Tense:

  1. Affirmative
  2. Negative
  3. Interrogative
  4. Negative Interrogative
  5. ‘Wh-word’ with Interrogative

Affirmative

Formula: Subject + will/shall + be + V1(ing) + object.

Examples:

  1. Rakesh will be going to college.
  2. Radhika will be eating mango.
  3. They will be writing an application.
  4. They will be playing cricket.
  5. She will be drinking coffee.

Negative

Formula: Subject + will/shall + not + be + V1(ing) + object.

Examples:

  1. Rakesh will not be going to college.
  2. Radhika will not be eating mango.
  3. They will not be writing an application.
  4. They will not be playing cricket.
  5. She will not be drinking coffee.

Interrogative

Formula: Will/Shall + subject + be + V1(ing) + object?

Examples:

  1. Will Rakesh be going to college?
  2. Will Radhika be eating mango?
  3. Will they be writing an application?
  4. Will they be playing cricket?
  5. Will he be drinking coffee?

Negative Interrogative

Formula: Will/Shall + subject + not + be + V1 + object?

Examples:

  1. Will Rakesh not be going to college?
  2. Will Radhika not be eating mango?
  3. Will they not be writing an application?
  4. Will they not be playing cricket?
  5. Will she not  be drinking coffee?

‘Wh-word’ with Interrogative

Formula: Wh-word + will/shall + subject + be + V1 + object?

Examples:

  1. Where will Rakesh be going?
  2. What will Radhika be eating?
  3. Whom will be writing an application?
  4. What will they be playing?
  5. What will she be drinking?

Uses of Future Continuous Tense:

1 To express the work which will occur in future for a continuous time period.

Example:

  • Suman will be waiting for me at the Mall.

2 For the pre decided programme which will occur in future (intention)

Example:

  • We shall be organize party in the 5 star hotel tomorrow evening.

Adverbials of Future Continuous Tense:

Tomorrow, next week / month / year, in the days, ahead, these days, next month / year.
